Duration: 1 hour
This 1-hour workshop explores how intentional play invitations and provocations can deepen children’s inquiry, engagement, and learning.
Drawing on research from Early Years, the Reggio Emilia philosophy, Peter Moss, the BC Early Learning Framework, and scholarly writings on material encounters, this workshop shows how play invitations become meaningful entry points into children’s thinking, curiosity, and relational connections. Educators will examine how environments, materials, and relational presence shape children’s responses to invitations. Through reflective scenarios, daily strategies, and examples of co-constructed play, participants will learn how to design invitations that honor children’s ideas, spark inquiry, and support social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
