Duration: 1 hour
This 1-hour workshop explores how transitions can become emotionally supportive, relational moments within the child’s day. Educators will deepen their understanding of transitions through a developmental lens, recognizing how internal cognitive, sensory, and emotional systems interact during moments of change.
Drawing on research from Early Years, ZERO TO THREE, Stuart Shanker, and the Harvard Center on the Developing Child, this workshop highlights the importance of co-regulation, emotional pacing, and responsive routines. Using the BC Early Learning Framework, participants will examine how playful, relational approaches can create continuity and belonging during transitions. Through scenarios, reflection, and daily practice strategies, educators will learn how to support smoother, more emotionally attuned transitions that honor children’s rhythms and relationships.
